Preparing for a New Year in SIMS

Course description

Learn how to configure SIMS for the new school year including setting up the new pastoral structure and dealing with admissions. Before the new school year commences, the pastoral process must be completed in SIMS.

Why attend?

To gain an overview and understanding of the requirements of the new school year, including dealing with the new school year admissions and leavers. This full day course provides you with more time to practice new skills.


Outcomes

By the end of this course you will be able to:

  • create a new academic year and set up the school diary
  • record changes to teaching staff
  • make pastoral structure adjustments including creating new class group
  • undertake pastoral promotion routines to update year group and class group memberships for the new school year and print class lists
  • create new intake groups and pre-admission groups including the import of data from the LA ATF and CTFs
  • process leavers
  • perform general housekeeping routines
  • producing required reports.

Remote Preparing for the new school year – Primary Schools

Course description

SBS has created a remotely delivered training course to provide skills to prepare SIMS for the new Academic Year.

The Course has 2 Modules and individual modules can be booked at £50 each or both at a discounted price of £75.

Staff with responsibility for preparing SIMS for the new school year.

Remote Preparing for the new school year – Secondary Schools

Course description

SBS has created a remotely delivered training course to provide skills to prepare SIMS for the new Academic Year.

The Course has 3 Modules and individual modules can be booked at £50 each or all 3 at a discounted price of £100.

Staff with responsibility for preparing SIMS for the new school year.

This demonstration will explore the different tools available to making changes to student timetables.

  • Allocating students to an alternative curriculum
  • Dealing with clashes in a pupil timetable
  • Printing timetables and class lists
Tuesday 19th May 1pm – 2:30pm £50
Module 3 – Housekeeping and other activities Housekeeping and other activities – 90 minutes (Demonstration using SIMS)

This session will provide the other activities required to prepare for the new academic year

  • Applying the timetable and setting up lesson monitor and cover
