Support staff pay scales 2016 - latest news

Posted  5th May 2016

Just a quick update with regards to the support staff pay scales for 2016. You may well be aware of this, but for those of you who are not, we hope that this proves useful.

In March, two of the recognised local government unions - Unison and Unite - rejected the latest employers' offer, asking for negotiations to be re-opened. The third union - GMB - voted to accept the offer. In April, Unison decided to hold a ballot of their members to ask them if they would support all-out strike action or accept the offer. Unite indicated that they were not in favour of all-out action but would consider whether to proceed with balloting members for strike action. With these developments in mind, we will continue to monitor the situation and update you when we know more For those of you using SBS Online budget management software, we will keep the STC pay scale tables in place should you wish to continue referencing them. It may be worth creating an alternative scenario budget showing 'what if' they are not implemented and referencing a standard inflationary setting.
