We hope this is useful information for you and we're happy to go into more detail:

1. Greater visibility in bitesize chunks

Driven by the key areas of risk in the school(s), a full programme provides proper focus and peace of mind that each area will be dealt with in turn. Over a 2 year, 6-termly period we'll devise a suitable, realistic scheme of works, prioritising perceived areas of weakness identified on a risk-basis, whilst ensuring all categories of risk are identified, reported, and managed.

2. Minimise the 'data gathering' burden ahead of an audit

We know there can be alot of documentation for school staff to pull together for the day of the review, so separating the areas of scrutiny into categories reduces the physical, or digital fact-finding burden for your academy.

3. Year-on-year progress and tangible outcomes

We handle key areas (e.g. Payroll, Banking Procedures) in turn, perform a 'full review' one term, document it in the internal scrutiny report and then revisit them with a 'light touch' at a later date to keep on track. Any updates will be reported in the internal scrutiny report. As we work with several academies in a period of time, all internal scrutiny customers will benefit from an industry standard benchmarking.

"Thanks to the internal scrutiny process, our SBM had a ‘lightbulb moment’ regarding assisting Governors with risk management. The level of scrutiny meant that we needed to
have a clear risk policy and risk register that work hand in hand, we set up a working group with Governors to ensure that they are clear on how these documents interact to inform
internal scrutiny. A true success story.”

"Working with SBS on the Internal Scrutiny work has been exactly what we needed. The work was well planned, prepared and engaged with every school of our Trust. Being well versed in MATs and schools, the conversations and challenges were thoughtful, direct and at the same time, well balanced. The final reports were thorough, clear and on time. I would highly recommend any MAT in engaging with SBS for their Internal Scrutiny work."
