National School Governors Awareness Day has been created to raise awareness of governance in our schools and academy trusts and to celebrate the contribution that governors and trustees make to improve the lives of children and young people and the overall effectiveness of their schools.
Who is this awareness day for?
There are more than 300,000 school governors in England, which constitutes the largest single group of volunteers in the world. Strictly Education is joining forces with a range of supporting organisations to champion school governance and raise its profile within our wider communities.

When is National School Governors’ Awareness Day happening?
Tuesday 22nd February 2022 will be the first National School Governors’ Awareness Day. Thereafter, it will become an annual event.
On 22nd February we are offering a series of free to access webinars for those currently involved in or interested in school governance. Governors can get involved by sending 90 second videos expressing their thoughts on school governance. Headteachers are being encouraged to send our eCards to their governors and trustees. The NSGAD website also hosts a Knowledge Hub of news and guest posts.
The day will be promoted through a concerted press relations campaign aimed at national media, educational media, and every governing board in the country.
