Autumn Census in Arbor

01/10/20 is the Autumn Census day this year, with returns to be uploaded by the 28th of October (unless stated otherwise by your LA).

The Autumn Census in Arbor will be slightly different this year due to the cancellation of the May Census, so let’s go through the changes:

  • Data from Summer 2020 will not be collected in the Autumn 2020 census. Attendance from the Autumn term will be collected in the Spring Census, so make sure you are using the correct attendance codes this term.
  • We have removed the Other exclusion reason, and added the ability to record up to 3 reasons for an exclusion.
  • For future censuses, we’ve added the new exclusion reasons of OW - Use or threat of use of an offensive weapon or prohibited item, LG - Abuse against sexual orientation and gender identity, DS - Abuse relating to disability, MT - Inappropriate use of social media or online technology and PH - Wilful and repeated transgression of protective measures in place to protect public health to use when recording exclusions in the autumn term.
The DfE is aware that these new codes are being introduced at very short notice and know that the new codes may not be available in the software if required at the start of this academic year. So they suggest that an alternative code is used until this new code is available. Any ‘alternative’ code must be replaced by the ‘actual’ code in time for reporting in School Census Spring 2021.
